JADEN'S LADDER TO HOST "BRIGHT LIGHTS BIG CITY GALA" INAUGERAL FUNDRAISER FOR BOSTON CHAPTER

BOSTON, MA – March 19, 2009 - Jaden's Ladder, a non-profit organization that assists survivors of domestic violence, announced today its “Bright Lights Big City Gala” inaugural fundraiser to support the opening of its Boston Chapter.  Founded in October 2004, Jaden's Ladder provides life-enhancing, post-shelter programs and support that build confidence and foster self-reliance for survivors of domestic violence and their families.

In August, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick declared domestic violence “a public health emergency”.  In the past year, there have been 42 murders and 13 suicides related to domestic violence in Massachusetts alone – a three-fold increase since 2005.

The “Bright Lights, Big City Gala” event is a private fundraiser that is being held on April 4, from 7-11PM at the State Room in Boston to support the opening of the Jaden’s Ladder Boston Chapter.  Jaden’s Ladder will use the funds to offer customized care that will help survivors of domestic violence and their families become emotionally and financially independent.  “Jaden’s Ladder is a unique, post-shelter program that helps survivors of domestic violence obtain restraining orders, set life goals and identify ways to achieve long-lasting financial stability,” said Oneta Bobbet, a domestic violence survivor and co-founder of Jaden’s Ladder.  “After two years, families graduate from our program without any need for government assistance and with the confidence and financial independence to end the cycle of domestic violence.”

Jaden’s Ladder has also won the support of professional athletes who are dedicated to helping raise awareness of both domestic violence as well as the need to assist survivors and their families in building independence.  In fact, Andruw Jones of the Texas Rangers and his wife Nicole are the official Ambassadors for Jaden’s Ladder.  Their unwavering support of the organization has helped raise awareness for domestic violence and made a significant difference in the lives of many domestic violence survivors.

Come join former New England Patriot and now Denver Bronco, Jabar Gaffney and the Atlanta Falcon’s Ovie Mughelli and have an amazing time supporting an extraordinary cause.  Live music, dancing, fabulous food, as well as live and silent auctions are guaranteed to make the night a remarkable experience for all.  Ticket and sponsorships are now available and can be purchased by calling 603.430.1118 or online at www.jadensladder.org.
