Jaden’s Ladder raises over $180,000.00 at recent Atlanta fundraiser

Organization seeks to give a new home to a Jaden’s Ladder graduate later this year

Atlanta, GA – November 14, 2009 – Jaden’s Ladder, a non-profit organization that assists survivors of domestic violence, today announced that it had raised over $180,000.00 at the recent 4th Annual Fairway Affair Gala & Golf Tournament in Atlanta hosted by Nicole & Andruw Jones of the Texas Rangers.  The event, held at real estate mogul Lee & Kim Najjar’s home, featured dinner, dancing, auctions, live performances by Bow Wow and Kollosus and music by celebrity DJ Jermaine Dupri.  Julius “Dr. J” Erving was also honored with the annual “Champion Award” for his charitable contributions around the country.

All proceeds from the event will go to support Jaden’s Ladder in their efforts to break the cycle of domestic violence through life-saving programs that build confidence and foster self reliance.  Part of the proceeds raised at the recent fundraiser will also be allocated towards providing a new home to a Jaden’s Ladder survivor who has successfully completed the two year program by the holidays.  This will be the second time that Jaden’s Ladder has provided a home to a domestic violence survivor.  In May, Jaden’s Ladder provided a home to one of their graduates on Mother’s Day, thanks to a fundraiser held in Boston in April.

Current statistics on the widespread prevalence of domestic violence in the United States are staggering.  “In fact, according to the National Coalition on Domestic Violence, Georgia has been listed in the Top 20 for domestic violence statistics for 9 years,” said Oneta Bobbett, Co-Founder & Program Director at Jaden’s Ladder.  “Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and our guests, we have raised the funding to continue to break the cycle of violence through educational opportunities, mentoring and the essentials that support an independent and self reliant lifestyle.”

“We remain 100% committed to Jaden’s Ladder,” said Andruw Jones of the Texas Rangers. “As Jaden’s Ladder Ambassadors, we see the impact that the organization has on the lives of domestic violence survivors first hand.  During these challenging economic times, we are especially grateful for the support and generous contributions at our recent fundraiser which will continue to help us to make a difference.”

Special thanks are extended to the 4th Annual Fairway Affair Gala & Golf Tournament sponsors including Mercedes-Benz of South Atlanta, Grey Goose Vodka, Jezebel Magazine, Nicole & Andruw Jones, Jon & Oneta Bobbett, Taste Boutique, the Boras Corporation, Chipper Jones, Callaway Golf, Lavoska & Marilyn Barton, Asian Atlantic Industries, and Kane Insurance of Portsmouth.
